Great website!

I came across this website the other day while doing some research on an issue I'm having with my arm (I think it's tennis elbow...if anyone knows of a remedy for this, please share, I'm in PAIN).

Anyway, this website if very helpful with all aspects of your health. I took the RealAge test and was happy with my results, but I'm going to strive to lower my score! There are a lot of useful tools in this that I think you all could benefit from.

Save Your Vision Month

By the way, this is Save Your Vision Month. Regular eye exams are important, even if you do not have glasses or contacts. (This tip brought to you compliments of my Wellness Committee.) I know I often forget about that aspect of my health. And I really do need to make an appointment as I have not been to the eye doctor in a couple of years.

Registration is still open for the Mini-Marathon 5K

If the Mini (13.1 miles) is a little more than you can train for right now, registration is still open for the 5K (3.1 miles). I have never done the 5K but I have done the Mini (and am doing it again this year) and it is a lot of fun. I really encourage everyone to do the 5K because the event, the atmosphere, and the entire day is great. You do not even have to run - you could just walk the 3 miles, if you wanted. You can get more info and register here: http://www.500festival.com/marathon/

Is anyone else running the Mini? I know I am, my husband is, Liz Koon's husband is and a couple of our friends from Ohio. Just curious.

Going to the Derm

I know this is a site for inner beauty and getting fit, but I thought I would throw this out there. I went to a Dermatologist for dry skin on my face. This weather is making my skin red and painful. I have mild Psoriasis. Treated it with some meds and it is doing better. He recommended Neutorgena for face washes and moisturizers. He also gave me samples and said he liked these moisturizes: Purpose, CerVe, and Eucerin. I am trying Purpose on my face right now and it seems to being doing a good job. My face doesn't feel like it is goingt o break. He also likes Clinque products. I asked him about eye creams (why not , let's get my monies worth out of this visit) he said your eyes definitely need a moisturizer but none have clinical shown to do better than another one. So just use one. Also I asked about microdermabrasion, and he stated he thought they did a great job for 2/3 of the people. 1/3 they just irritated the face. He mentioned Loreal and Neutrogena brands. Hope this was informational.

Mini Marathon

If anyone wants to run the Mini, transfer (a way to get someone's number)info can be found at http://www.500festival.com/marathon/MiniMarathonTransfers-2006-01-09.asp Still have 8 weeks to train. Plenty of time!! :)

Pilates Classes

Sydney and I have been going to Invoke Studios (pilates) for about a month now and it is amazing! We go every Tues and Thurs morning at 6:30am, Wednesday at 5:45pm, Saturday at 10am, and sometimes Sunday at 5pm. They have a great assortment of classes 7 days a week if those class times do not work for you. If anyone would like to join us, it is an hour long class and totally worth every minute!!!! The website is www.invokestudio.com if you want to check it out.

I love this blog! I think it is a great way to get more ideas out there! Especially with the warmer weather getting closer, it would be great to establish a few times every week to meet for a walk/run on the monon!!!!! Also, Terry and I are still fairly new to this area and always open to ideas, so if anyone has any classes or gyms they belong to, let me know!!!

Thanks,
Sarah

Good motivation!

This is a great idea! If I lived closer to you all I'd be walking/running right along with you, but because I live way out in Egypt...I'll just settle for my treadmill and walk away the loneliness!

I am pretty dedicated to doing my 40 minute walk (up hill I might add!!!) at least 4 times a week and I try to do some weight training every other day. This is my routine, sometimes I stick to it, sometimes I only get to workout once or twice a week, but it's something.

I think this blog will help get us all motivated to take better care of ourselves knowing we are all trying our hardest!

I look forward to reading up on every one's progress.

Keep it up!
